Time to take a look at 5 zombie comedies that every zombie loving fiend should at the very least check out and if not own... and more importantly why. This list is by no means the Top 5 but it is definitely give that in my view if you have not seen... you really can not call yourself a zombie fan.

Shaun of the Dead: Right off the bat what is there not to love about Shaun of the Dead? This was my first introduction to Simon Pegg and he and his dynamic sidekick are absolutely genius. Two stoners must find a way to survive the zombie apocalypse... at least as soon as they figure out that it is a zombie apocalypse. Funny, witty, dark and well written Shaun of the Dead could very well be the best zombie comedy ever made. A definite must see for any zombie comedy fan!

Dead Heat: A couple of cops have to take down a vicious gang of bank robbers but little do they know these robbers are much more then just a couple of bad asses... they are zombies. Thats right kids gun totting, flesh eating... car driving... zombie bank robbers. What do you find Zombie robbers with? Zombie Cops of course! Seriously its as cheesy as it gets and I love every minute of it. It is some seriously cheesetastic fun!

Return of the Living Dead: When I first saw George Romeros Night of the Living Dead I was just a kid and it violated me in all kinds of evil ways. I was sleepless in seattle for some time. Then I stumbled on Return of the Living Dead which also was scary but also funny and erotic. Return of the Living Dead is right up there with Shaun of the Dead only not as well written. ROTLD is all about the laughs, the cliche characters and the over the top writing but it works. Its funny, its clearly not deep thinking and I have seen it at least 40 times over the many years I have owned it. A must see for fans if only to see Linnea Quiqley strip down and get all kinds of naked

Fido: Fido is a newer release which was shot in Canada. The movie is the definition of genius. The humor is a bit upper crust but that doesnt make it any less entertaining. Well thought out with a 50's angle the film is visually appealing and is easily one of the best cast zombie movies ever made. You have Carrie-Anne Moss, Billy Connolly and Dylan Baker all great character actors and all of them deliver. Billy Connolly stars as a house zombie which is similar to a pet dog who is working for a family after the zombie wars. The film is about the family coming to terms with the zombie and opening their eyes to the world. Its funny, its witty and although a bit more refined in its tastes its still a great film. If you like your zombie movies with depth and a side of wine and fancy cheese this one is for you!

House of the Dead: Last but not least we have House of the Dead. To say this movie has been raked through the coals by fans would probably be one of the biggest understatements ever. People hate this movie. I love it. I love it however for all the wrong reasons. The shallow characters, the lame ass writing, the weak directing and the hair brained attemps at making a zombie movie. House of the Dead is all kinds of bad but at least in this case its the kind of bad you can laugh at.
