Top 10 Bloodiest Zombie Movie Body Counts
LostHighway inspired this editorial when he mentioned a site devoted to bodycounts in movies which led to this editorial featuring the Top 10 Zombie movie Bodycounts and the results may or may not surprise you. Let us adventure on starting from #10 all the way to #1 Bloodiest Zombie Movie Bodycounts:
#10 – Dead Alive: Dead Alive is Peter Jacksons masterpiece about a man whose mother gets bitten by a rare rat which turns her into something even worse then a senile senior… a zombie senior. Bloody and packed with carnage it doesn’t just whack 37 people but a dog a rat and a monkey also bite the big one in this classic zombie tale of mommies love and lawn mower justice.
#9 – Shaun of the Dead: This was my number one zombie comedy until ZombieLand came along and now its pretty much hit and miss which one i think is the greatest. It really comes down to they both kick ass. Shaun of the Dead has a body count of just over 30 and a pigeon.. just to keep those animal rights activists clawing!
#8 – Zombie strippers: Really can you go wrong with a movie called Zombie Strippers? Add to the mix Robert Englund and porn star Jenna Jameson and you get a really bad b-movie camp affair with zombies and a body count of just over 40 and a fly.
#7 – The Signal: Admittedly only a zombie movie by fringe. Its the tale of a signal that turns everyone into murderous lunatics that rip each other to pieces. Since its an infection I decided to include it and its bloody body count is 53 severely mangled bodies. The Signal is a movie that started out very strong and very quickly became a complete piece of crap. You really don’t want to watch this movie if you can help it.
#6 – Dance of the Dead. I have not seen this one but the premise is gold. Its about a highschool prom that is over run by the undead hence the title ‘Dance of the Dead’. In the ensuing madness 85 young innocent and horny teens meet their doom.
#5 – Return of the Living Dead Necropolis: The first two Return of the Living Dead movies are absolutely fantastic. I have not seen this one or Return of the Living Dead 3 and 5. But I did recently go out and buy a box set of these movies at Walmart for $11. So very soon I will be partaking in it and finding out how the 103 people meet their doom in this one.
#4 – Zombieland: Zombieland is GENIUS! Its easily one of the best written and well thought out zombie movies ever made with careful attention paid to the many rules that we zombie fans have for surviving the zombie outbreak we all know is coming one day. Not only did it feature 148 corpses it also had a very famous one cameo in it, ala Bill Murray. This is a zombie movie every zombie fan should own
#3 – Resident Evil Extinction: I loved the first Resident Evil movie which I bought on DVD for $5. It was actually the 3rd DVD I ever bought. Unfortunately Resident Evil Extinction is ‘ok’ but not great. The onslaught of carnage in this movie however does add some value as 3 dogs, a flock of infected crows and 576 people meet their end in it.
#2 – 28 Weeks Later: Its pretty rare that a sequel lives up to all the magic of the original but 28 Weeks later manages to pull it off. In the sequel to 28 Days Later the American army heads to London to save the day and in the process manage to whipe out 10,211 people .. oh and unleash the virus again on London.
#1 – Resident Evil Apocalpyse: Resident Evil Apocalpse gets the distinction of the highest body count in a zombie movie and it also is one of the worst sequels made. I really wanted to love this movie but unfortunately it pretty much sucked throughout. However the film did have one redeeming quality in that it nuked an entire city. So bodycount? Somewhere in the millions.
