The Crazies Remake Movie Review

Recently went out to catch the remake of The Crazies in theaters and can honestly admit I have not seen the original. How weird is that? I am a huge Romero fan but for whatever reason this movie just never made it into my collection. Although The Crazies is not a zombie film by definition since it involves an infection that turns the local population into crazed ‘zombie like’ killing machines I thought it worthwhile to review and discuss on our site. Zombie or not with the Crazies you still want to Shoot For The Head.

The remake is directed by Breck Eisner and stars Timothy Olyphant two things that do not bode well for the film on paper. Timothy Olyphant did a horrible job in Hitman and Live Free & Die Hard and Breck Eisner’s big budget SAHARA was a poor mans Indiana Jones.

Fortunately for Genre fans The Crazies remake although not genius or redefining the horror genre is actually quite good. The Crazies remake is creepy and at times gory and offers an interesting cast of characters with the US Government once again playing more then just big brother.
