Dead Girl Movie Review
This review is 100% spoiler free. Read without fear of having the film ruined. Directors Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel have serious issues and they all come out in Dead Girl which is a sadistic and very disturbing horror film.
The film will likely have you feeling dirty and perverted within about 20minutes and 10minutes later you will either be scarred for life or blown away by the talent of these two very talented directors. Directors Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel prove that once again if you want to see a good horror movie you still can. Dead Girl is disturbing, sadistic and over the top insane but also easily one of the most imaginative films I have seen in a very very long time.
When high school misfits Rickie (Shiloh Fernandez) and JT (Noah Segan) decide to cut school and find themselves lost in the crumbling facility of a nearby abandoned hospital, they come face-to-face with a gruesome discovery: a woman whose body has been stripped naked, chained to a table and covTered in plastic. When both react to the situation in extremely different ways, the boys soon find themselves embarking on a twisted yet poignant journey that forces them to decide just how far they’re willing to stretch their understanding of right and wrong.
Much like films like The Girl Next Door and TEETH Dead Girl is a highly disturbing film which although not as violent as MARTYRS ( definitely see that one ) it is easily as sadistic and perverted as The Girl Next Door. Much like Jack Ketchums masterpiece though Dead Girl stays with you because of its haunting story, great cast and outstanding direction.
The movie is by no means for the faint of heart and is as noted EXTREMELY perverted but it is also done within the context of a larger story which will pull you in, scar you, make you feel horrible and also move you. Dead Girl is disgusting, provoking, entertaining and moving. Easily one of the best movies I have had the pleasure of seeing in a very long time. Definitely check it out… if you think your stomach is up for it! This is not mainstream horror, and this is no Platinum Dunes remake… it quite seriously could leave you squirming.
